# Choose how images and video are made

> The Video & images setup step: stay on Voyager Free, pick a Voyager plan, or connect the media services you already pay for with your own keys.

When you finish this step, you'll know who makes your images, video and audio, and who pays for them. This is the **Video & images** step. It's optional, and setup already counts as done.

> [!NOTE]
>
> **Before you start**
>
> * **You don't need to buy anything.** You can continue on Voyager Free, and connect your own media keys or sign-ins now or later.
> * **Your own keys** are billed by that service, to your account with them. **Voyager credits** come from your workspace's Voyager plan. Plan names and prices are on [voyager.so/pricing](https://voyager.so/pricing).
> * Editing your own footage, captions and most motion graphics run on your computer and don't need either.

## What the step shows

The step looks different depending on your workspace's plan:

| Your workspace | The step says | What you see |
| - | - | - |
| On Voyager Free, and you can manage its plan | **Make video and images for less** | Plan cards, from **Free** (marked **Current plan**) to paid plans, with **Monthly** and **Annual** prices, and a collapsed **Already pay for other providers?** row for your own services. |
| On a paid plan | **Video and images are covered** | Your plan's card, with **Manage plan**, and your own services listed under it. |
| A team workspace, or a plan you can't change | **How should Voyager make images and video?** | A **Voyager** row, then your own services under **Or use your own plans**. |

## Choose a plan, or stay on Free

**1. Stay on Free, or pick a plan**

To stay on Free, do nothing here: the button at the bottom right reads **Continue free**. Free makes some images each month but no video.

To pick a plan instead, choose **Monthly** or **Annual**, then click the **Get** button on a plan card (for example **Get Creator**). A payment page opens in your browser, and the card shows **Finish payment** until you're done; click it to reopen the page. When you've paid, the step changes to **You're all set on** your plan. **Compare all plans, including Teams** opens the full pricing page.

> [!WARNING]
>
> A paid plan charges your card. You don't need one to finish setup or to work with your own Claude, ChatGPT and media keys.

**2. Connect services you already pay for (optional)**

Click **Already pay for other providers?** (or look under **Or use your own plans**). Each service has a row with what it makes and a **Set up** button. Click **Set up**, then follow the steps in the dialog: paste your API key and click **Save**, or sign in to your account in the browser. Voyager checks the key or plan, then the row shows a check.

The first few services are listed; **More media providers (N)** opens the rest. Every change saves straight away.

**3. Click Continue**

Click **Continue free** (or **Continue**). You move on to **Apps**.

## Media services you can connect

| Service | What it makes | How to connect |
| - | - | - |
| **Higgsfield** | Video and images on your Higgsfield plan | Sign in with your Higgsfield account in the browser. |
| **fal** | The widest model catalog | API key |
| **Google** | Gemini images and speech | API key |
| **ElevenLabs** | Voices, music and sound effects | API key |
| **Fish Audio** | Voices, including featured creator voices | API key |
| **Inworld** | Fast, low-cost voices and voice clones | API key |
| **BytePlus** | Seedance video and Seedream images | API key |
| **Runway** | Gen-4.5, Aleph and Act-Two video | API key |
| **Sume** | Seedance, Veo, MiniMax and Nano Banana, on your Sume balance | API key |
| **OpenAI** | GPT Image on your OpenAI API key | API key |
| **ChatGPT plan** | Images on your ChatGPT plan, through Codex | Sign in to the Codex CLI with `codex login` in a terminal. |

Each service's dialog tells you where to get its key. You can add, replace or remove keys later in **Apps & Models → Providers**.

## Who pays for a generation

When the agent makes an image, video or clip, Voyager uses the first connected service in your order that offers the model it needs. Voyager credits cover anything you don't connect. The note **You can configure model routing in Settings.** points to where you change that order: **Apps & Models → Providers → Image, video and voice order**.

> [!WARNING]
>
> **Automatic fallback is on by default.** If a service is out of credits, rejects its sign-in or is down, Voyager tries the next one in your order. That can bill a different account, for example your Voyager credits instead of your own fal key. You can turn off **If one can't finish, try the next provider**, change the order, or ask the agent to use a particular provider for a job. See [Generation providers](https://docs.voyager.so/account/generation-providers.md).

## Check it worked

* Any service you connected shows a check on its row.
* After setup, **Apps & Models → Providers** lists it under **Connected**.

## If something went wrong

> [accordion] A key won't save
>
> Voyager checks each key when you save it. Make sure you copied the whole key from the service's dashboard, with no spaces, and that your account with that service is active.

> [accordion] I bought a plan, but the step still shows the plan cards
>
> Finish checkout in the browser, then come back to Voyager. The step reads your plan again when you return to it; click **Back** and **Continue** to reopen it. Your plan also shows in **Settings → Account**.

> [accordion] Free ran out of credits
>
> Connect your own service for the kind of media you need, or upgrade on your [billing page](https://voyager.so/dashboard/billing). See [Plans and credits](https://docs.voyager.so/account/plans-and-credits.md).
