# Where Voyager keeps your data

> Where Voyager saves your projects, chat files, app data, logs and sign-ins on macOS, Windows and Linux.

Voyager keeps two kinds of data in different places:

* **Your work**: the videos, images, audio and source files the agent makes. These are ordinary files in folders you can see, open and back up.
* **App data**: your chat history, settings, logs and connections. This lives in Voyager's profile folder, which you rarely need to open.

## Your work

### Chats without a project

Each chat that isn't in a project gets its own folder the first time you send a message. The folders are named `conversation-…` and are created inside your **conversation files folder**:

| | Default location |
| - | - |
| macOS and Linux | `~/Voyager` |
| Windows | `C:\Users\<you>\Voyager` |

If you used an early version of Voyager, yours may be `~/Documents/Voyager` instead. Voyager keeps using it so your chats stay together.

To use a different folder, go to **Settings → General → Conversation files folder**. The change applies to new chats. Existing chats and their files stay where they are.

### Projects

A project saves to the folder you picked when you created it. If you didn't pick one, Voyager makes a folder named after the project inside your conversation files folder.

Renaming a project in Voyager doesn't rename its folder. Removing a project from Voyager removes it and its chats from the app, but **doesn't delete any files** on disk.

### Inside a project or chat folder

You'll see your finished files, plus a few folders the agent uses as it works:

| Folder | What's in it |
| - | - |
| `generated/` | Raw output from generation providers, one folder per job. Voyager dims it in the Files panel because you rarely need to open it. |
| `brand/` | Brand assets the agent copied in for this project. |
| `AGENTS.md` | The project's **Context**: the brief the agent reads at the start of every chat. Edit it from the project page. |

Finished videos and images sit alongside the editable source the agent used to make them, so you can ask for changes later.

### Delivery folder

To collect finished videos, images and exports in one place, set a **Delivery folder** in **Settings → Creative preferences**. The agent saves finished work there and keeps working files in the project. Leave it empty to keep everything in the project.

To find any file, right-click it in a chat and choose **Reveal in Finder** (**Reveal in File Explorer** on Windows, **Reveal in Files** on Linux), **Copy full path** or **Save video**. See [Find your file](/first-video/find-your-file).

## App data

Voyager's profile folder holds your chat history, settings, logs, generation job records, caches and downloaded models.

| | Profile folder |
| - | - |
| macOS | `~/Library/Application Support/Voyager` |
| Windows | `%LOCALAPPDATA%\Voyager` (for example `C:\Users\<you>\AppData\Local\Voyager`) |
| Linux | `~/.local/share/voyager` (or `$XDG_DATA_HOME/voyager` if you set it) |

Useful places inside it:

| Path inside the profile folder | What's there |
| - | - |
| `voyager/userdata/settings.json` | Your app settings. Change them in **Settings**, not by hand. |
| `voyager/userdata/keybindings.json` | Your custom keyboard shortcuts. |
| `voyager/userdata/logs/` | App logs. Support may ask for these. |
| `voyager/userdata/logs/support/` | Support bundles you saved from **Get help…** while signed out. |

To open the profile folder quickly, go to **Settings → Configuration** and click **Reveal in Finder** (**Reveal in File Explorer** on Windows, **Reveal in Files** on Linux) next to a file.

<Warning>
  Don't delete or edit files in the profile folder while Voyager is open. Deleting it erases your chat history and settings. Your project and chat files are elsewhere and aren't affected.
</Warning>

## Sign-ins and keys

Voyager saves your Voyager sign-in and the media keys you add in your system's secure storage:

| | Secure storage |
| - | - |
| macOS | Keychain |
| Windows | Windows Credential Manager |
| Linux | Your Secret Service keyring, such as GNOME Keyring or KWallet |

Some connections, such as a ChatGPT account you connected with **Continue with ChatGPT**, are saved in the profile folder, readable only by your user account.

**Claude and Codex keep their own sign-ins.** If you connected Claude, or your own Codex CLI, Voyager uses the login those tools already have. They store it in their own folders (`~/.claude` for Claude Code and `~/.codex` for Codex, unless you changed them). Signing out of Voyager doesn't sign you out of them.

To disconnect an account, use **Settings → Accounts** while Voyager is running. Deleting the app alone doesn't remove saved sign-ins.

## Removing Voyager completely

<Steps>
  <Step title="Sign out first">
    In **Settings → Accounts**, sign out of Voyager and disconnect any providers you don't want to stay connected.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Delete the app">
    * **macOS:** drag **Voyager** from Applications to the Trash.
    * **Windows:** **Settings → Apps → Installed apps → Voyager → Uninstall**.
    * **Linux:** delete the AppImage, or run `sudo apt remove voyager` for the `.deb`.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Delete app data (optional)">
    Delete the profile folder listed above. This erases your chat history and settings for good.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Keep or delete your work">
    Your projects and your conversation files folder (`~/Voyager` by default) are untouched. Keep them, move them, or delete them yourself.
  </Step>
</Steps>
