# Browse files and previews

> Use Files, Assets and Jobs to inspect working files, review delivered versions and follow progress.

Open work beside the chat to inspect it, play it, or refer to it in your next message.

Start from a chat that has files. For a new chat without a project, send the first request so Voyager creates its working folder.

## Choose the right panel

| Surface | What it is for |
| - | - |
| **Files** | Browse the chat or project folder, including sources, drafts and finished files. |
| **Assets** | Find presented work and its versions, with filters for the current chat or a wider scope. |
| **Jobs** | Follow generations and other supported background work associated with the chat. |
| Project **Outputs** | Return to delivered work from the project's page. |

The project details panel containing **Brand kit**, **Context** and **Apps** is separate from the right panel used for previews.

## Open and inspect a file

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open Files">
    Open the right panel and choose **Files**. If the panel already has tabs, use its **+** button, labeled **Add panel surface**, to choose **Files**.

    The right-panel shortcut is <kbd>⌥</kbd> <kbd>⌘</kbd> <kbd>B</kbd> on Mac (Ctrl Alt B on Windows/Linux).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Select a file">
    Browse or search the file tree, then click the file. Voyager can preview images, video, audio, PDFs and several document formats beside the chat.

    <Frame caption="The file tree includes working material as well as finished assets.">

    </Frame>
  </Step>

  <Step title="Point the agent to it">
    Right-click a file and choose **Add to chat**, or drag it into the message box. This references the file; it does not move it.

    Add a request such as “Use this as the reference for the lighting,” or “Make a shorter cut from this video.” For visual feedback, open the media's review controls and [attach comments](/first-video/review-and-revise).
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Find a delivered version

Open **Assets** and choose **This chat**, **Project**, or **All chats**. **Project** is available when the chat belongs to a project. Select an asset to see its versions, then open the one you need.

<Frame caption="Change the scope when the file you want came from another chat.">
  <img className="block dark:hidden" src="https://mintcdn.com/voyager/dzNfJ3ErXafJEG4z/images/screenshots/review-assets-panel.light.png?fit=max&auto=format&n=dzNfJ3ErXafJEG4z&q=85&s=e55bf8bd4470ea8e01528b1862ee8941" alt="The Assets panel with a grid of delivered work and This chat, Project and All chats scope controls." width="1126" height="1800" data-path="images/screenshots/review-assets-panel.light.png" />

  <img className="hidden dark:block" src="https://mintcdn.com/voyager/dzNfJ3ErXafJEG4z/images/screenshots/review-assets-panel.dark.png?fit=max&auto=format&n=dzNfJ3ErXafJEG4z&q=85&s=0ff578c427e474c5004bd5165b7c6e67" alt="The Assets panel with a grid of delivered work and This chat, Project and All chats scope controls." width="1126" height="1800" data-path="images/screenshots/review-assets-panel.dark.png" />
</Frame>

Use **Compare** when there are suitable versions to compare. In a project, you can also open the project page's **Outputs** and use the version badge to reach **Open** and **Reveal**.

A preview may follow a newer version delivered by the agent. Watch for **Showing the agent's latest version** and use the **Back to** link when you want to return to the earlier file.

## Edit text carefully

<Warning>
  Editable text files save automatically as you type. Changes affect the actual file; there is no separate Save button. Keep a copy first if you need the original unchanged.
</Warning>

Some files are read-only in the preview. For an unsupported file type, use **Open in default app** when available, or the reveal action to open it from your file manager.

## Follow unfinished work

Open **Jobs** to check a generation or render. The activity tray can also show progress across work. **Queued** means the job is waiting; sending the request again is not needed to move it forward.

If a paid job fails or its outcome is uncertain, ask the agent to check that existing job before starting a new attempt. See [generation problems](/help/generation-problems).

## Check the result

Confirm the filename and version before sending feedback. To keep the finished file outside Voyager, use [Reveal or Save video](/first-video/find-your-file).

## Common problems

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="The file is in Files but not Assets">
    **Files** shows the folder's contents; **Assets** shows presented work. Ask the agent to present the file as an output if you want it in **Assets** or the project's **Outputs**.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="A generated clip is not the final video">
    A generation may produce one ingredient for a larger edit. Look for the assembled result in the agent's final reply, or ask it to finish and present the cut.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="The preview cannot open the file">
    Reveal it in your file manager and check that it still exists. Try its normal application if the format cannot be previewed in Voyager. If it was moved, tell the agent the new location.
