# Add Voyager to Codex

> Add Voyager to Codex with two terminal commands, sign in with your Voyager account, and ask Codex for videos, images, audio and 3D models.

When you finish, you can ask Codex for a video clip, an image, a voiceover, music or a 3D model, and Voyager makes it.

> [!NOTE]
>
> **Before you start**
>
> * **Codex** installed, with a terminal you can type commands into.
> * **A Voyager account.** If you don't have one, you can sign up during the steps below.
> * **Cost:** adding Voyager is free. What you make uses Voyager credits from your workspace; video and 3D need a paid Voyager plan. See [Plans and credits](https://docs.voyager.so/connect/overview.md#plans-and-credits).
> * This page is about using Voyager inside Codex. To run the Voyager desktop app on your ChatGPT plan through Codex instead, see [Connect ChatGPT](https://docs.voyager.so/setup/connect-chatgpt.md).

## Add Voyager

**1. Add Voyager in your terminal**

Run these two commands:

```sh theme={"system"}
codex mcp add voyager-cloud --url https://mcp.voyager.so/mcp
codex mcp login voyager-cloud
```

The name `voyager-cloud` keeps this connection apart from anything else named Voyager in Codex.

**2. Sign in**

A browser window opens. On the Voyager page, choose **Continue**, then sign in with your Voyager account. If you belong to more than one workspace, choose the one whose plan and credits this connection should use.

**3. Check it in Codex**

Start Codex and type `/mcp`. **voyager-cloud** should be in the list. Then ask for a shot.

## Check it worked

Ask: *What's my Voyager plan and how many credits do I have?* Codex uses Voyager to answer with your workspace, plan and credit balance.

Then try something small: *Use Voyager to make a 5-second clip of hands pouring coffee in morning light.* Video needs a paid Voyager plan; on Free, try an image instead.

Voyager can also use a file on your computer as a reference. Name the file in your request, for example *use ./photo.jpg as the start frame*.

## If something went wrong

> [accordion] The browser didn't open, or sign-in didn't finish
>
> Run `codex mcp login voyager-cloud` again and finish signing in in the browser window that opens.

> [accordion] voyager-cloud isn't in /mcp
>
> Run `codex mcp list` in your terminal. If it isn't there, run both commands from [Add Voyager](#add-voyager) again, then restart Codex.

> [accordion] You need a seat in this workspace
>
> The workspace you chose has a Voyager plan, but no seat for you. Ask one of its admins to add you, then run `codex mcp login voyager-cloud` again. Or sign in again and choose your personal workspace.

> [accordion] Voyager says a request needs a paid plan or more credits
>
> Your workspace's plan or credits don't cover it. Owners and admins can upgrade or add credits at [voyager.so/dashboard/billing](https://voyager.so/dashboard/billing). Then ask again.
